British and Western Chronicle

1) If you missed class today, look over the info on both Bede and his history as well as the material on the Chronicle of Anglo-Saxon England begun in King Alfred's time.  I returned Thursday's questions, we talked a bit about Bede, and looked at samplings from the very different style of the Chronicle.  If you were absent, just READ the excerpts from the Chronicle (79-82).

2) Students handed in the work on the "chunks" about two of Beowulf's character traits after doing a bit of screeningon each other's work:  some claim in the sentence with the concrete detail, a properly-integrated quotation, and two elements of commentary.

DUE TOMMOROW:  the two-page composition on one of the minor characters.  See the full description on the hand-out linked to Friday's post.

If you were absent on Friday, your Beowfulf chunks assignment (the part called "Today's Assignment" on the hand-out) is due tomorrow, and the two-page paper is due on Thursday.

Quiz over Beowulf on Wednesday--regardless of absence status (there has been several days' notice. . . ). Know material from the four hand-outs as well as the material in your text.
