TODAY IN CLASS
1) We finished the Battle with Grendel section in 6th (had already done so in 4th)

2) New hand-out:  3rd installment of material from the full text. This one deals with what happens between Beowulf hanging up Grendel's torn-off arm and claw and the "Monster's Lair" section.  It covers Chapters 13-21 in the complete Raffel translation, but all I gave out was a one-page (front and back) summary with a few key excerpts quoted. 

TOMORROW'S DISCUSSION will focus on the brief "Monster's Lair" section and the longer "Battle with Grendel's Mother" portion of your text.  No fill-ins tomorrow--be SURE to have your book.

HOMEWORK
By Thursday, you need to have finished the poem as it is given in your book (pp. 54-69).  Read carefully; better yet, read it twice.
