Have you submitted your paper to www.turnitin.com ?

TODAY IN CLASS
1) Grendel essays were turned in (both first and second drafts); as noted above, be sure to get the essay submitted to http://www.turnitin.com/ by tonight's 11:59 p.m. deadline.

2) Chaucer's Canterbury Tales
Continued work on the General Prologue.  The expectation was that by Wednesday you had read it through and have a general idea of the range of "characters."  In 4th period, we have completed the Knight, Squire, Yeoman, and Nun; we will pick up with the Monk and the Friar tomorrow; in 6th, we barely got to the Yeoman. But everyone (4th or 6th) should have read those five carefully for today.  If you did not, you are behind, and your homework should start with catching up.

FOR TOMORROW--New Homework for Everyone
This is not "group work", and everyone is ultimately responsible for knowing about all of the pilgrims.  However, to facilitate discussion for tomorrow, you will be a specialiist in five.  Look at the list and instructions on the following document to find which pilgrims you must focus on for tomorrow:

Now, in your own notes, you should keep track of the details the narrator reveals about each traveler:
• profession/job/title
• general physical appearance
• clothing/attire
• other accessories that are mentioned
• chief character traits and how we know
• does the narrator seem to approve or disapprove? do we believe him (sincerity vs. satire)
• anything else that seems important for a particular pilgrim?

Don't "copy quotes" here--be brief and direct in your notes.
