TODAY IN CLASS
Ballad assessment papers turned in in both classes:  some look excellent, but others (at first glance, anyway)reflect a lack of thoroughness and/or inattention to detail.  And some were missing.

Different opening in 4th and 6th. In 4th we went over the objective quiz on the "Nun's Priest's Tale."  In 6th, students read the ballad papers in small groups, selected the strongest responses, and noted how their own responses could have been improved.  (6th, you'll get the NPT quizzes back on Monday.)

We played around with the idealized stereotype of beautiful woman.  Then we read a Shakespearean sonnet that punched holes in the ideal; the speaker admits that his lady is NOT an exaggerated example of female perfection, but a real flesh-and-blood woman.  He loves her for what she is.

Next week will be busy.  But no homework this week-end.
