The only thing announced differently today is that for tomorrow's quiz, you do NOT need to be able to list all of the six or seven individual characteristics of an epic. You do need to know the basic definition of epic poetry (often used as a synonym for heroic poetry). As we read Beowulf, you will need to keep track of how its content and style show the specific features listed for epic poetry. It's useful to know what you're looking for in advance.
If you were absent today, you can spin by class sometime early in the day if you want to pick up a couple of papers I returned yesterday. You do need to take the quiz tomorrow even if you were out for sports or other school activities today.
People out for illness are normally expected to take a quiz/test announced before they were out, and this one was announced on Tuesday. But I'm flexible with this depending on how sick you really were. You missed the class discussion/review either way; you just have to decide if putting it off until next week and having to come in after school is really in your best interest..
