PAPERWORK
4th period students turned in the personal essays; do not forget to post them to turnitin.com if you haven't already done so. 6th period--don't forget that tomorrow is your absolute deadline (though a few people have already turned them in). And it would be really good to take care of turnitin.com tonight rather than risk forgetting on Friday after school.
Everyone: Career Center deadline for the resume/first question response is TOMORROW
TODAY IN CLASS
We continued with Beowulf, picking up with the "Coming of Beowulf" section in the book. As soon as the Danish watchmen returned to go back to his post, however, we switched to supplementary material from the full text of the poem. In 4th period, you just had to listen/look at the overhead. . . sorry; you'll get the actual hand-outs on Friday. We got to the point where Wulfgar advised Hrothgar to meet with the noble-looking visitor and hear what he has to say. In 6th, you got the hand-out, but we barely started to use it; we just got to where Wulfgar (a warrior who acts as the "gate-keeper" for those seeking access to the king) asks Beowulf who he is/where he's from/what he wants.
FOR TOMORROW
As long as you've read through the Battle with Grendel, there's no new reading. Just take care of the material at the top.
