turnitin.com reopened!!

For those who were absent/late/careless,  I have opened an "Extended Hamlet" folder on turnitin.com.  There will/will not be a deduction, depending on the reason it wasn't in on time in the first place.  This one closes at 11:59 Thursday evening.  THERE WILL BE NO MORE CHANCES, AND PAPERS NOT FILED ELECTRONICALLY WILL NOT COUNT FOR CREDIT.

TODAY IN CLASS
Very short reading check quiz over the Chapter I hand-out from the Voyage to Lilliput, followed by a brief discussion of that section. There was an overhead summary of the entire book, with the nature of the satire for each part.  During the last fifteen minutes of class, there was time to get started on tomorrow's reading.

FOR TOMORROW
Read both sections of the material from Gulliver's Travels in the lit book.  The black books in the classroom and  your gray books at home have exactly the same material--a short selection from the Voyage to Lilliput and one from the Voyage to Brobdingnag.  Simply find where you were and continue reading; page numbers in the gray book are 514-524.

Tomorrow:  there will be an open-book graded assignment (individual).  You will need to have read the selection thoughtfully/thoroughly before coming to class.  Pay attention to the nature of the satire by thinking about what Gulliver finds odd/strange/disturbing about the people and cultures he visits as well as what the "natives" think of him, his ideas, and the culture he represents.
