TODAY IN CLASS
First, we looked at some additional information and slides about North Korea, straight from last night's msnbc.com website. Scroll down to the following post to check it out if you were absent.
Then we started into a few 1984 topics regarding the effects of Newspeak; the status of proles (and why); the attitudes towards sex possessed by Katharine, Winston, and Julia; and we were just headed to the prole side of town when the bell interrupted us.
You know that as of today (Monday) you should be in Part 2, through chapter 8.
FOR TOMORROW-Tuesday
Read Chapter IX (9). Not the zingiest bedtime reading ever (just ask Julia ), but it's important!! There will be in-class work on it tomorrow that will be difficult if you haven't read.
