TODAY IN CLASS
1) First order of business:  the last step in the STEP program.
Pick up a hand-out with your name on it tomorrow, and follow the instructions for your resume and required written response.  Deadline for material to the Career Center:  Oct. 30.

2) We started a new story, on a hand-out--John Updike's "A & P"
If you were absent, either drop by before school and try to read this before 4th or 6th, or read it online here

3) Don't forget the 2nd draft of your essay, due on Wednesday.  And please submit the Self-Definition and first draft if you haven't already done so.  You need to know everything is working for you before the 2nd draft is submitted--no credit for these until both are successfully online.

4) You DO need your lit book tomorrow.  One thing we will do with the Updike story is to make some specific comparisons with one of your earlier stories.  And for that you definitely need the actual text.  (We might start the last story in this unit, too--don't know for sure.)
